Student Outreach Programme
The Student Outreach Program will provide opportunities for local and regional students to attend the conference with free registration. Funding for these bursaries will be through sponsorship by companies and individuals. The applicants will be expected to present at the conference and will submit a report to IGS South Africa on their experiences at the end of the event. Details on eligibility and applications will be provided in due course.
Geosynthetics Conference for Young Professionals (GCYP)
IGS South Africa is proud to host the 4th Geosynthetics Conference for Young Professionals (GCYP) as a pre-event for GeoAfrica2027. This standalone conference is a dedicated day where young professionals have the opportunity to network and share their work in front of an audience of their peers, and thus develop their writing and presentation skills. The conference will be chaired by a selected “godfather” – an internationally renowned expert – who will provide a keynote talk on their career and their experience with geosynthetics. The winning paper and presentation from the GCYP will be selected for presentation at a future regional IGS conference. Abstract and paper submissions, as well as registration for the conference, will be separate to GeoAfrica2027. Further details will be provided once available. The GCYP invites all geosynthetics professionals under the age of 35, including authorities, consultants, contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, installers and academics to attend!
